My name is Johanna Kwon Yu-jin from the Archdiocese of Daegu, South Korea. My family has received so many graces through Our Lady of Naju, but due to time constraints I will share only briefly. If we had simply accepted the pastoral letter or decree from the Archdiocese of Gwangju and had not made pilgrimages to Naju, my family might not even be alive today.

The first grace concerns my father.

My father is an obstetrician-gynecologist. While working at a large general hospital with more than 500 beds, he became well known for his surgical skill, so he was entrusted with most of the critical cases and emergency operations.

During the day he saw nearly over 100 outpatients, and at night he performed emergency surgeries for patients hovering between life and death. Because of this, he had to remain extremely tense and focused for more than 18 hours a day. As these exhausting days continued and he was barely able to sleep, he eventually developed panic disorder.

At that time, my father was in such excellent physical condition—athletic and strong—that we didn’t think much of it. We treated it as something minor, but eventually he developed a severe and irreversible mental disorder. He became completely unable to go out or even bathe on his own. For four to five years, he was moved from hospital to hospital receiving treatment, but nothing helped. By that time, all of our paternal relatives had given up on him. It was then that my mother turned to Our Lady of Naju.

Since my father was unable to leave the house, my mother initially went on pilgrimages to Naju by herself. Eventually, with the help of several people, my father was able to accompany her to Naju. On the day he arrived, Mama Julia said, “Let those with severe pain in the back of the neck be healed.” My mother responded “Amen!” on his behalf. At that time, my father’s neck was swollen like a lump, so that he could neither lift his head nor move. The moment my mother said “Amen,” he was completely healed!

On the day of the special anniversary prayer meeting, the space was so full of pilgrims that there was hardly any space to step, so my mother briefly went into a room on the second floor. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door very hard, and my mother was startled. In that instant, she felt an intense tightening and constriction from her heart to the back of her neck and throughout all her nerves and muscles, a pain so severe it felt like it was tearing her apart. At that moment, she felt, “Ah, my husband is enduring this kind of suffering right now!”—she realized it.

During the time of the individual meeting with Mama Julia, she prayed directly over my mother’s heart. In that very moment, all fear vanished, and the tight, constricted pain in her heart was instantly and completely healed. My mother then felt a strong faith and certainty, thinking, “Ah, my husband will also be healed like this!”

After the encounter, as they left the chapel, my father—who had been unable to notice his surroundings for years—began to look around the courtyard and the nearby stream. He was restored to his former self and even began engaging in ordinary conversation again.

Despite the fact that medical science could do nothing, and even the family had given up hope, when we came to Naju and my father received Mama Julia’s prayer, the burnt-out mental “cells” began to revive! From that moment on, my father was the first to suggest going out, and he gradually returned to his healthy, vigorous self, finally able to enjoy the blue sky and brilliant sunshine once again. My mother says she could hardly calm her racing heart at the miracle unfolding before her eyes, and even now, thinking about it brings tears to her eyes and moves her to give heartfelt testimony.

Most remarkably, my father—who had once been a staunch atheist and believed that the faithful were merely weak people seeking escape or refuge—was baptized. Not only that, he became much warmer and more affectionate, participating in Mass, praying the rosary, and joining pilgrimages to Naju. This is a profound grace of love, healing not only his body and mind but also his soul!

Later, my father suffered a severe gout attack from even the slightest breeze, leaving him unable to walk, wearing a half cast, and barely able to go to the hospital. The pain was so intense that he couldn’t go to work the next day. The medication, being strong, caused side effects that brought sudden back pain, leaving him completely immobile and in serious distress. My mother instructed him to stop taking the medication and carefully gave him miraculous water of Naju to drink. The very next day, he was completely healed and able to go to work. Amen!

The second grace is for my mother.

Many years ago, she often experienced pain in her left breast, and the pain would radiate down her entire arm. When I examined her, I could feel the entire breast hardened with lumps that were very serious. Yet, during the meeting with Mama Julia, even though she was herself offering up great suffering, she felt more deeply for our worries and pain than her own. With immense love and devotion, she carefully laid hands on my mother and prayed. Instantly, all those hardened lumps disappeared, leaving her completely healed. At the time, the doctors said it could have been terminal breast cancer. Yet, now, 7 years later, my mother has not experienced any pain at all. I firmly believe she was completely healed through Mama Julia’s prayer. Amen! (Note: This testimony was written in 2018. As of 2026, her mother remains in completely normal condition)

Additionally, my mother had severe headaches and went to a neurosurgeon. The doctor said very seriously, “Subarachnoid hemorrhage is suspected; you must undergo a precise examination and immediate surgery—it is extremely urgent and dangerous.” However, after visiting Naju and receiving Mama Julia’s prayers, offered with the suffering of an extreme headache, my mother was healed and has had no problems to this day. Amen!

The third grace is for my older sister.

She developed such severe acute tonsillitis that her fever rose above 40°C (104°F), and she was urgently admitted to a university hospital. She received antibiotic treatment and was discharged with a prescription for a single dose of an antibiotic called Superlax.

However, the moment she took it, she reacted as if she had ingested poison, saying her stomach was burning unbearably, writhing in pain, unable even to cry out. To me, it looked as if she were dying after consuming a lethal poison.

In the midst of this emergency, she even began to bleed heavily. We were desperate and unsure what to do, so we gave her the miraculous water of Naju to drink. As she drank continuously, the pain gradually subsided and the bleeding stopped. Yet, due to the side effects of the strong medicine, her spleen may have been damaged, and her entire body was soon covered with a terrifying rash—the skin became as hard as a turtle shell.

Then, she applied the miraculous water that Mama Julia provided directly onto the affected areas. Immediately, the hardened skin began to vanish, smoothing away. It was astonishing—like the scenes in the Gospels where Jesus healed lepers, new skin grew wherever the water was applied. This miracle left an unforgettable impression on me and was a truly remarkable grace.

And just when we thought the rash had completely healed, another crisis struck. My sister’s previously strong gums suddenly swelled up, her palate puffed out in an instant, and her throat narrowed so much that she could barely breathe. Acute high fever and intense pain followed immediately, along with a large lump in her neck, leading to sepsis. Her condition became an emergency again, and her pupils dilated completely.

In this critical moment, my mother rushed my sister to a Naju overnight prayer meeting. Mama Julia placed a gentle “kiss of blessing” on her and breathed over her mouth. Instantly, my sister’s dilated pupils returned to normal. Witnessing this incredible miracle before our eyes, we cannot help but give all glory and praise to God! Amen! Alleluia!!!

Lastly, I would like to share the grace that I received.

In April 2003, I was involved in a serious car accident. I was riding in a taxi with a friend, and it was raining heavily that day, making the road extremely slippery. The taxi driver was driving at a very high speed, and when he suddenly turned the steering wheel to avoid an object that had fallen onto the road, the car began to spin uncontrollably. It finally came to a stop only after crashing into the wall of a tunnel. Even though the road was completely soaked from the heavy rain, the struggle was so intense that long skid marks were clearly left on the road.

The car was immediately totaled, and I lost consciousness. I suffered a severe head injury from my forehead to the upper part of my head, including the frontal lobe, with heavy bleeding. When the 911 paramedics transported me to the hospital and saw the extent of my head trauma and bleeding, they remarked, “This girl may not make it…” My friend, hearing this, began to wail uncontrollably.

According to my friend, my head looked as if a paper box had been punched hard—completely crushed, caved in, and horribly deformed. You may wonder why my friend was unharmed. Was it simply luck? No. At that time, my friend was wearing the Scapular of Our Lady of Naju. Even though we were both completely defenseless in the back seat and went through the same terrible accident together, my friend suffered only a very small scratch on the leg. This truly could not have been anything less than a great miracle.

When my friend received baptism, I had given her the Scapular of Our Lady of Naju, saying, “If you wear this scapular, it will protect you from all dangers. Never take it off—always wear it!” Yet ironically, I myself didn’t wear mine that day, especially if it didn’t match my outfit, and on the day of the accident, I wasn’t wearing it at all.

At the time, I considered myself a very devoted believer—so much so that I was double-majoring in theology at university—but looking back, I realize I was truly a believer only in appearance, chasing worldly things. The doctor who performed emergency treatment on my unconscious self was extremely concerned. In her urgent desperation to save me, my mother poured the Naju Miraculous Water over my head as part of the emergency care.

And indeed! Despite what the doctor had said about the severity of my head trauma and bleeding, the examination showed no abnormalities at all. People around said, “The bleeding was so severe, and the trauma so serious, yet she’s really lucky.”

But it wasn’t luck—it was the extraordinary grace of the Blessed Mother of Naju. My head, which had been caved in and crushed like a punched cardboard box, healed incredibly fast, leaving almost no scars and no lasting aftereffects.

However, while lying in the hospital bed, even though my head had been severely injured, it wasn’t my head that hurt the most—it was my spine. The pain in my back was so unbearable that I couldn’t endure it at all. Every time the orthopedic doctor checked me, all I was told was, “You need to exercise diligently if you want to heal quickly.” The pain was so intense that I couldn’t even lie still, let alone try to exercise.

At that point, my father took me to another highly skilled orthopedic specialist and explained the situation. The doctor immediately realized something was wrong and insisted on a proper examination. The results revealed multiple compression fractures: my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th vertebrae were broken.

If there is nerve damage in a spinal fracture, the consequences can be terrifying—paralysis or permanent disability—so extreme caution is always required. Yet, the doctor had still told me to exercise, despite the fact that I had five fractured vertebrae. When I later heard that this same doctor had fled to the United States, I realized just how serious my condition really was.

I was transferred to another hospital, where the skilled doctor who had diagnosed my spinal fractures said firmly, “Your pain must be excruciating. We need to inject anesthesia into your spinal nerves to block the pain.”

But no matter what painkillers were given—steroids or other strong medications—they were ineffective, and I nearly slipped into a critical state from the drugs themselves. Seeing this, my mother made a resolute decision: “Only the miraculous water from Our Lady of Naju can save her.” She chose to stop all injections and medications. The doctor argued that I would still be in pain and that it made no sense, but because my father had been healed by Our Lady of Naju, he supported my mother’s decision.

I was allowed to lie in the hospital bed without receiving any injections or drugs, with only my condition being carefully monitored.

From that moment on, my mother began applying the miraculous water from Our Lady of Naju daily to my injured spine. She also asked Mama Julia to pray for me, and Mama Julia herself called to offer deep, heartfelt prayers.

The excruciating pain that had kept me awake at night—pain so severe that even the strongest anesthetics were said to be necessary—vanished completely, utterly and completely!

Those fearful days, living with the terrible agony of spinal fractures and the constant worry about possible paralysis if the nerves were damaged, were transformed into a heavenly experience through the miraculous water and Mama Julia’s prayers. From that day, my time in the hospital changed from suffering to a kind of restful vacation.

A month later, during a follow-up examination, the radiologist exclaimed in surprise, “Wow, this is amazing—the bones have regenerated!” I could not help but bear witness to the miraculous work of Our Lady of Naju.

I would like to read the specialist’s medical statement:

"According to the MRI in May, there were compression fractures in the T2, T3, T4, T5, and T7 thoracic vertebrae. However, the MRI in June shows that everything is completely normal. In general, when compression fractures occur—especially multiple fractures caused by an accident, as in this case—it is extremely painful and makes daily life very difficult. To achieve a complete recovery within just one month is medically inexplicable and can only be considered a true miracle."

If it were not for Our Lady of Naju, I could have lost my life or been left with severe permanent disabilities from this major accident. I give profound praise, thanks, and glory for Her great love that not only healed me physically but also opened my spiritual eyes, turning evil into good.

We offer our infinite gratitude to God the Father, who sent Mama Julia to us and, moved by her ardent love, granted us the Miraculous Water. We give all glory to the Lord and the Blessed Mother. Amen!
