1. Site Selection for the Blessed Mother’s Mountain
Although the chapel was expanded from 40 pyeong(132 square meters) to 60 pyeong(198 square meters), it was always cramped due to the large number of pilgrims. Furthermore, the residents reported the noise, came to cause trouble, and extorted money every day, making it impossible to hold all-night vigils at the chapel anymore. Therefore, we found the land that Jesus had shown in a vision and tried to purchase it on July 9, 1992, but no matter how much money was offered, the owner refused to sell it. While meeting with the pilgrims, Julia Kim made time each day to look for land, yet she could not find one she liked.
Julia Kim searched all over Naju, even looking for the place where she was born, but she could not find a suitable piece of land. On July 27th, Julia Kim went with Father Chang and the collaborators to see the land that the owner had said he would never sell, but the car could not go up from the bottom of the reservoir. So, even after the car backs up and speeds up to get momentum, it could not climb up. Then, while sprinkling holy water and praying the exorcism prayer, a fragrance of roses filled the air, and the car easily went up.
However, when we arrived at the destination, the land had already been cultivated. We were all disappointed and said, 'This land purchase is definitely a failure.' We decided to turn back. However, Julia Kim said, ''If it is God's will, He will provide a way.” While sprinkling Holy Water, we earnestly prayed to the Lord, who makes all things possible, asking Him to change the landowner's heart and make him sell the land.
2. Purchase of the land for the Blessed Mother’s Mountain
The Lord answered our earnest prayer. The landowner sold the 7,000 pyeong(23,100 square meters) of land, which he had cleared to build a large duck farm, at a reasonable price on August 25, 1992. If we had bought it earlier, it would have been so difficult due to the need for land clearing, but the Lord turned evil into good. However, when the decision was made to establish the Blessed Mother’s Mountain, many people said, "There is no water here, so it is absolutely impossible." However, Julia Kim dismissed their concerns, saying, "This is the place the Lord has shown, so He will make it happen.
Before purchasing the land for the Blessed Mother's Mountain, Julia Kim had wanted a place with a reservoir or a large stream. However, before reaching the Blessed Mother's Mountain, there was a small pond-like reservoir on the left side. On August 25th, Julia Kim, who had purchased the land, thought to herself, "Jesus, we wish the reservoir were a bit bigger, but it is better than having none, so we will consider it as if there is a large reservoir," On September 14th, the city raised the water level of the reservoir by 6 meters, making the reservoir large enough to float boats. How could this happen! we are simply amazed by the Lord's loving consideration, who not only knows our hearts but also answers our prayers.
3. Construction of the Blessed Mother’s Mountain
(1) Spring of Grace
On the early morning of August 27, 1992, Julia Kim saw a vision during her prayer. The Blessed Mother was carrying a large load of laundry on her head, holding some in both hands, and even pushing a bundle of laundry with her feet as she climbed a steep mountain. She then stopped at a certain spot, and from right above that place, clear water began to flow down, forming a large stream.
The Blessed Mother began washing the clothes there, while below, countless people were drinking the water, bathing, and joyfully playing in it, splashing around. As the day broke, Julia Kim, Father Jang, and the collaborators went to the place shown in the vision. They found the spot on the land they had purchased two days earlier. At that moment, the Blessed Mother gave them a message.
"My extremely beloved daughter! As I prepared at this place through you, a little soul, the spring of Mary's Ark of Salvation so that all the children in the world may drink it, dip themselves in it, and wash themselves with it, dig the spring without delay. This Mother of yours will call all the children in the world to this place and will wash away dirt from them and wipe them clean who have been molested by the secular world and enslaved by pride and evil habits, and their souls and bodies have become sick. Thus, I will even penetrate what have been clogged and open them so that they can lead a new life of resurrection.
As I do not want even a single soul to be condemned and go to hell, I will let even the wickedest sinners come to the spring of Mary's Ark of Salvation and drink the water, dip themselves in the water, and wash themselves with it repenting their sins. Thus, I will heal their sick souls and bodies."
After receiving the message, Julia Kim began digging the spot with her bare hands. Each time she dug, a stream of water surged up with a splashing sound, rising about 30 cm. The same phenomenon occurred until the seventh time she dug, but when she dug the eighth time, the streams of water merged into one and flowed down, forming a stream. Thus, the promise of Jesus made on January 18, 1990, saying, "Through My Mother, I will soon give you a miraculous spring where love and grace will overflow, and souls and bodies can be healed near you," was fulfilled exactly as He had said.
(2) Blessed Mother’s Mountain
The landowner left the two plots of 1,000 pyeong(3,300 square meters) each, which had been cleared for a large duck farm, for the use of the pilgrims. In September 1999, with her husband’s retirement pay from his retirement, Julia Kim’s husband purchased an excavator, and the construction of the Blessed Mother’s Mountain officially began. The declaration was announced. At that time when the Blessed Mother's House was a difficult time, her husband retired, and the fact that he was able to work on the Blessed Mother's Mountain was the Lord's provision.
From November, the place the spring of grace is was being constructed with natural stones. In December of that year and January of the following year, there was an unusually heavy snowfall. While moving and arranging the large stones in the snow, there were several dangerous accidents, but the Blessed Mother kept them safe.
Seven faucets were installed below the spring of grace, making it easier for the pilgrims to take the miraculous water. This symbolizes the seven times the miraculous water surged when Julia Kim dug the land with her bare hands, as well as meditating on the Blessed Mother's Seven Joys and Seven Sorrows. At the third faucet, the miraculous water transformed into white milk, several times. In this way, the spring of grace was beautifully constructed, and a small statue of the Blessed Mother was placed there.
One day, however, the large statues of the Resurrected Jesus and the Blessed Mother, which are now placed at the Blessed Mother’s Mountain, were standing side by side at one corner of the House of the Blessed Mother in Naju. No matter how much we inquired, we could not find out who sent them. Julia Kim joyfully exclaimed like a child, saying, "You said that Jesus and the Blessed Mother are always together, and now You have come even in the form of statues?" She placed the statue of the Blessed Mother above Miraculous Spring, and the statue of the Resurrected Jesus was placed at the 15 Station of the Cross. On October 19, 1999, the 13th anniversary of the Tears of Blood, Archbishop Miguel of Peru (now Cardinal) consecrated them during his pilgrimage.
(3) The Stations of the Cross
When the Way of the Cross was being created, the thorn bushes were so thick that one could hardly see a step ahead. Julia Kim instructed where to start and how far to go while making the Way of the Cross, and then she came down to meet the pilgrims. However, when she realized that the construction of the Stations of the Cross was done incorrectly, she immediately went back up. At the current first station, they were planning to turn the path to the spot where the Mother Mary statue now stands. However, Julia Kim firmly said, "No, you must go a bit further up and make a turn.” And then she went down.
When the Way of the Cross was being created, the thorn bushes were so thick that one could hardly see a step ahead. Mama Julia instructed where to start and how far to go while making the Way of the Cross, and then she came down to meet the pilgrims. However, when she saw that the way of Cross was not correct, she immediately went back up. At the current first station, they were planning to turn the path to the spot where the Mother Mary statue now stands. However, Mama Julia firmly said, "No, you must go a bit further up and make a turn.” And then she went down.
When Julia Kim met the pilgrims, she noticed that something was still wrong. She went back up, and sure enough, they were trying to turn the path toward the current Mountain Calvary instead of following Julia Kim's instructions. So, instead of just saying, "No, it has to go up to that point," she felt it would not be enough, so she took the person working on it directly to the current 15th station. At the point Julia Kim mentioned, there were two very large cedar trees, and around them, smaller cedar trees were lined up, as if they had been intentionally planted.
Julia Kim and those who went with her were all surprised. It seemed as though trees had been planted for landscaping at the current 15th Station, but in reality, it had been arranged that way from beginning on that barren land. We were in awe and convinced that this place had certainly been prepared in advance by the Lord and the Blessed Mother.
When Julia Kim began to fully develop the Blessed Mother's Mountain, she envisioned its current form while offering it as a prayer of life. Since the mountain was too steep, she divided it into two levels. First, since it is the Blessed Mother's Mountain, I thought of the miraculous medal. I designed the pattern with flowers and trees. On the lower level, we placed red azaleas surrounded by golden cypress trees to meditate on the Sacred Heart of Jesus (♡) and the Immaculate Heart of Mary (♡). The letter "M" was surrounded by white azaleas and golden cypress trees.
On the upper level, with the thought of the Benedictine Cross medal, we planted cypress trees in the shape of a cross. In the center of the cross, we buried the Benedictine medal and the miraculous medal, and planted azaleas on top of them. Below the wings of the cross, we shaped the Alpha (Α) and Omega (Ω) symbols, and on either side, we planted white azaleas in a circular shape to meditate on the Blessed Sacrament of Jesus. With the active help of her husband, Julia Kim bought pine trees and several batches of azaleas. To keep costs low, she personally dug up the azaleas and loaded them onto the car herself and transported them.
After much effort in creating the landscape of the Blessed Mother's Mountain in 2001, a tremendous downpour washed everything away. Many pilgrims joined together and rebuilt it exactly as it was before. While planting trees and decorating around the landscape and the Gethsemane Jesus statue, the slope was so steep that several people fell from the cliff and high places down below without getting hurt. Remarkably, even though some fell onto large rocks, they were completely unharmed. Many pilgrims from all over the country came and helped, which was of great assistance.
(4) Mountain Calvary
On June 29, 1998, after preparing the Mountain Calvary and placing the statues, a consecration ceremony was held, during which a miracle of the sun occurred. Pilgrims from San Francisco, USA, witnessed this supernatural sign and were deeply moved, crying.
(5) Adoration Chapel of Our Lord’s Precious Blood
A priest who majored in canon law said, "Since Jesus has given the Eucharistic miracles here twice, it would be good to decorate the place." Julia Kim immediately responded with, "Amen." In May 2002, around the site where the Eucharistic miracle occurred, twelve large stones (symbolizing the twelve apostles, allowing the pilgrims to include themselves among them) and thirty-three small stones were placed to form a boundary. And a table was placed on top. A photo of the Eucharistic miracle was placed on it so that people could meditate and receive grace.
On June 11, 2002, Jesus opened His Sacred Heart and poured His Precious Blood over the stones at the site of the Eucharistic miracle. Julia Kim dipped her right index finger into the Precious Blood that had thickly covered one of the stones, and the Precious Blood on her finger began to pulse. Many people confirmed the pulsing and were greatly amazed. When suddenly the Precious Blood splashed up and went over her finger, the moment was captured on video, proving that it was the living Blood of Jesus.
As Julia Kim simply responded with "Amen" to the priest's words and diligently adorned the place of the Eucharistic miracle so that people could receive grace, Jesus performed such great miracles of love.
On August 15, 2002, Bishop Su Dominico, Father Su Francisco, and Father Su Philip, along with Malaysian pilgrims, celebrated the Mass at the stone altar in front of the Resurrection Jesus statue at the 15th Station of the Way of the Cross. During Mass, at the location of the Eucharistic miracle, Jesus poured out His Precious Blood once again. On this day, He opened His Sacred Heart and poured out His Precious Blood and Water without leaving a single drop. In the holy place where the Eucharistic miracle and the Precious Blood miracle occurred consecutively, an acrylic wall and ceiling were installed, and it was named the Adoration Chapel (the Precious Blood Prayer Room).
(6) Vinyl – Tented Chapel
When Julia Kim constructed the Way of the Cross in the Blessed Mother’s Mountain and offered her prayers,, Jesus accompanied her and shed His Precious Blood three times. When she found and decorated the site of the Eucharistic Miracle, the unprecedented miracle of Jesus opening His Sacred Heart and shedding His Precious Blood twice became known. After that, the number of pilgrims increased rapidly, and it became impossible to hold all-night vigils in the chapel.
So, a 300-pyeong(991 square meters) greenhouse was built at the Blessed Mother's Mountain , and the all-night prayer meeting began there on the first Saturday of November 2004. On November 24, Vinyl – Tented Chapel was consecrated.
