๐ 615. When I Guided Her Step by Step on How to Offer Up Everything by Turning It into Prayer
While conversing with the nun, I discovered that she was working as a manager at the hospital cafeteria. I exclaimed in admiration, โOh, Sister! You have truly been given a wonderful portion by the Lord.โ Her eyes widened in surprise at my words. She shared that each day, she would go to the market, constantly preoccupied with the thought, โWhat should I buy today?โ
Because she could not grasp at all the meaning of my comment, โYou have received a wonderful portion,โ she was visibly surprised. I explained, โSister, if you understand the Prayer of Life, then you have truly chosen the best portion. The kitchen is the very place where you can pray the most in your daily life.โ I then provided examples of how to offer the Prayers of Life while working in the kitchen.
โSister, you must have many ingredients to wash in the kitchen, right? While washing vegetables, fruits, fish, and other items, you can pray, โJesus, as I wash these, please wash away all the impurities from me, the patients, the nuns, the priests and everyone I know, and purify our souls.โ How powerful a prayer this would be!
And when preparing side dishes, as you add the seasonings, you can pray, โLord, I am always inadequate. Please, Lord and Blessed Mother, be with me and help me to create food filled with love. May the seasonings and all the ingredients I am adding now blend in perfect harmony to become a seasoning of love, so that all the patients and all of us who partake of this food may be wholly dissolved in the Lord, renewed in love and brought into true unity.
Also, please transform this food with the Precious Blood from Your Five Wounds, Your Wounds made by the Crown of Thorns and Your burning Sacred Heart, so that the doctors, nurses, patients and all of us who consume it may be healed both spiritually and physically and be resurrected.โ If you pray like that and give the food to the doctors, nurses, or patients, the Lord will make it happen just as you prayed.โ
I taught her about the Prayers of Life by giving various examples, such as washing rice, cooking it as it gets ready, and scooping it, mincing or crushing garlic and other seasonings, making bibimbap, or eating food that would otherwise be discarded.
โSince you work in the hospital kitchen, you must have a lot of dishes to wash, right?โ I asked, and she replied, โIndeed.โย
โEven if just one person eats, that is already two chopsticks, a spoon, a rice bowl, a soup bowlโfive or six items in total. Imagine how many there must be to wash for all those patients! However, if you offer a Prayer of Life each time you wash each item, saying, โPlease cleanse all the ugly stains from our souls and bodies,โ think of how many prayers that would amount to!
And while doing the dishes, we can wash away all the things we have been unable to forgive in our lives through the Prayers of Life, and through this prayer, we can atone for the mistakes we have made in the past. So, from the moment you buy the ingredients, wash them, prepare the meal, serve it to the patients, and wash the dishes afterward, try to turn every moment into prayers and offer up graciously. Then the Lord and the Blessed Mother will personally guide and work through your hands, Sister, so you have chosen the best portion.โ
I also shared with her how, even during my childhood when I did not yet know God, I offered up everything with Semchigo as if I had been loved, remaining faithful to the tasks given to me without hating or resenting anyone. Additionally, I shared the reflections and resolutions I made while gazing at the sky and the earth.
When I was ten years old, as an elementary school student, I looked at the earth, which silently accepts everythingโwhether people urinate, defecate, or spit phlegmโand I made a resolution. Remembering how I said, โYes, I will become a person who accepts everything, just like the earth does,โ I shared with her the story of how I have lived.
Like someone who had become mute, I had been so distressed that I could not even speak, yet I was able to speak for more than three hours. I gave infinite thanks to the Lord for the incredible mystery of His love, which gives me the strength to do what is needed, when it is needed.
