๐ 606. A 10-Day Fast, Over 100 Antibiotic Injections and Medications, Blood and Pus in the Stool, and Even Meetings With the Faithful
I offered up countless sufferings, both internally and externally, and underwent ten days of treatment without surgery. In January, the renowned director of the obstetrics and gynecology department in Yeosu had urged immediate surgery but after barely preparing, I was admitted in March. However, due to a misdiagnosis, the surgery did not take place, causing further delays. On top of that, I fasted for ten days, received over ten strong antibiotic injections daily and continued taking antibiotics.
Not only that, they drew large amounts of blood every day for tests. However, instead of improving, I developed numerous complications and was on the brink of death. The two Sisters who never left my side watched over me constantly, yet I could barely sleep due to the pain. Despite not having eaten anything, I continued suffering from diarrhea, stomach pain and frequent urination every 30 minutes, forcing me to go back and forth to the bathroom and sit on the toilet repeatedly.
It felt like I was having diarrhea, but instead of stool, only bloody pus kept coming out. On top of that, my entire body shook uncontrollably and I experienced severe and continuous vomiting. Everyone was shocked at the sight of me and did not know what to do. I could hardly move, as if I were on the brink of death itself. Though I felt like I was dying, with both vomiting and diarrhea overwhelming me, even in my utterly exhausted state, I offered everything up, practicing Semchigo as if I were loved by the Lord, and prayed the Prayers of Life.
โOh, my beloved Lord! How can You love me so deeply like this? I, an unworthy sinner, can barely endure this suffering, even struggling to utter a groan. Through this pain, I pray that many souls may come to repentance. Please wash away and cleanse all the stains of sin from every soul in this world and remove completely all that is impure and unnecessary.
In this way, pour out abundant graces of spiritual and physical healing upon the priests and religious whom You have personally chosen and especially upon the pilgrims who have come to visit Our Lady of Naju. Despite having received so much of Our Lady of Najuโs boundless love, those who betrayed her, falsely prophesied and remained unawake by joining with themโplease cast out all harmful habits from these children and heal them completely. Please cast out all harmful habits from these children and heal them completely. So that You alone, Lord, may be glorified, praised and worshiped. Amen!โ
Due to the worsening physical pain, I was on the brink of death but somehow many people learned of my presence and came seeking prayers. Even the nuns came to visit. I had gone to Busan seeking quiet treatment but things unfolded entirely differently from what I had intended. However, when people came to ask me for prayers, even though I had come for surgery, I did not feel distracted. Instead, I thought, โHow difficult must their struggles be for them to ask someone like me to pray for them?โ and I offered it up with Semchigo as if I were loved.
It was difficult to speak but I did my best to pray for them. Praying for their healing brought great pain, which made it very challenging. However, I entrusted everything to the Lord, practicing Semchigo as if I were being loved and relied on the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Mother, seeking to offer up the greater suffering graciously. One week after starting antibiotic treatment, a nun who had decided to return to the world came to visit.
I was in pain but I spoke with her and prayed earnestly for her. The Lord changed the heart of the nun who had come to visit me one last time before returning to the world and we promised to follow His will together. She decided to joyfully offer up whatever task was given to her in the convent and said to me, โIf I had not visited you today, it would have been a disaster for me. I truly thank you,โ before leaving me. I prayed, โOh, my beloved Lord! Be glorified through this daughter of Yours.โ
The next day, two more nuns visited me. Despite being so weak that I could hardly speak, suddenly, stories about the Charismatic Movement flowed from my lips continuously. As I wondered, โWhy am I telling the nuns so much about the Charismatic Movement?โ my mouth kept speaking, โThe Charismatic Movement is wonderful but people are misusing it.โ I then shared a parable about the attitude of the donkey carrying Jesus.
For a full three hours, I spoke about the issues with the Charismatic Movement and then I said, โI do not even know why I am sharing this with you, Sisters.โ The nuns responded, โOh no, this was exactly what we needed to hear. Sister Julia, how did you know that we are involved in the Charismatic Movement? We are actually leaders in the movement, so we were completely astonished as we listened to you.โ
The nuns joyfully said, โThe Lord has given us exactly the words we needed through Sister Julia!โ They were delighted and expressed their gratitude, saying, โThank you. We have learned so much.โ They left happily. No matter how much pain I was offering up, I felt such deep contentment and joy knowing that the Lord could use me wherever He wished. I praised, thanked, glorified and honored the Lord, Who had called me even to Busan and accomplished great works of the Holy Spirit through our meeting.
