During the peak of a scorching summer, I was offering up my work of styling customers’ hair as Prayers of Life. At that moment, a middle-aged woman entered the beauty parlor and exclaimed loudly, “Oh my, oh my! I have never seen a fortune-teller who is so accurate!” This immediately piqued the curiosity of the other women, who widened their eyes and exclaimed in unison, “Oh my, what are you talking about?” and “Where can we find such an incredible fortune-teller?”

“She is right next door at the rice shop! The owner of this building brought her here. You would not believe how accurate she is—like a pinpoint!” she said. Hearing this, the customers began to leave one by one, saying, “Let us go check it out right now.” Among them was a Catholic. Watching them leave, I thought to myself, “This cannot go on.” It was not because my parlor was losing customers but because I felt compelled to stop the cunning devils from deceiving and misleading people.

I asked the hairstylist to take over the customer I was working on. Then, praying, “Jesus, please go with me,” I hurried to the rice shop where the fortune-teller was said to be. When I arrived, a large crowd had already gathered. It pained me deeply to see footsteps that should have been heading toward the house of Jesus instead wasted on listening to deceptive words that wounded His Sacred Heart.

I quietly sat in a corner, pretending to be one of those who had come to have their fortune told, all the while praying for the wandering souls to be saved, one for every step they had taken. Discreetly, I sprinkled holy water that I always carried with me and recited prayers of exorcism without anyone noticing. Suddenly, in the midst of energetically interpreting a fortune, the fortune-teller abruptly raised her head, widened her eyes and scrutinized me intently as if she were trying to figure me out.

I remained calm and continued reciting the prayer of exorcism silently. Then, the fortune-teller said, “You must be someone specially chosen by God; I can see a large cross on your forehead.” Suddenly, she became flustered and hastily said, “I need to step out to use the restroom,” before fleeing altogether. At that moment, the owner of the building turned to me and said, “Oh dear, why did you have to come here and cause trouble when you believe in God? Goodness...” She expressed her frustration and the people gathered there also murmured, “Wow, she was really incredible.” “What a shame.”

Although things turned out as I had hoped, no matter how spiritually right my actions were, I still felt a sense of human sympathy for those who did not know God. So, I bowed my head deeply and asked for forgiveness.

“I am truly sorry if I caused any harm,” I said. Among the crowd, one person remarked, “Wow, it seems God is greater; just look at how the fortune-teller ran away.” Then, the Catholic who had rushed out of Jeong Beauty Parlor (the name of the Little Soul’s parlor) to see the fortune-teller said, “Today, I truly witnessed the greatness of God.” 

I was in awe of God’s mysterious providence and cried out in wonder. “Oh! My Lord, my Love! You, with Your great sighs and sorrow, wait also today for sinners to repent and come running to You. Yet, how painful it must be for You, Lord, that even Your children who are loved by You cannot break free from their attachments. Though You gave Your very life to save humanity, there are still children who fail to understand Your great love. Please show them mercy and correct their misguided thoughts through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. May they all quickly accept You and become those who welcome You, so that You may be glorified.”

At that moment, the voice of Jesus was heard. “My adorable daughter! The cunning devils, with all their activities and efforts, stir up curiosity not only among the many children of the world but also among many children in the Church chosen by me. They lead them toward vanity and superficiality in order ultimately to separate them from the love of God. For that, they use fortune-tellers.

The devils know well that I am raising you as a pure soul to be a witness of My infinite love. That is why, the moment he saw you, he fled in fear. Whenever you humble and empty yourself before My dignified love, I will perform My power deep within your soul. So, follow Me in an innocent and upright manner. You have answered My call with ‘Amen,’ completely entrusting yourself to Me. By doing so, you have triumphed over the devil at every moment and the Cross Seal (†) engraved on your forehead will shine eternally.”

“Amen! Let it be so!”
