๐Ÿ’Œ 624. The Reason Why the Grandmother Dying on the Hospital Floor Survived

The graces of Our Lady of Naju were conveyed to the entire familyโ€”both Victorinaโ€™s paternal and maternal sidesโ€”through both Victorina and Victorino, the couple. Victorinaโ€™s mother, although a Protestant, believed in superstitions.
ย One night, while crossing a pedestrian crosswalk, she was struck by a speeding van. Since it was dark and there were no witnesses, the driver, determined to make sure she died, turned the vehicle around and ran over Victorinaโ€™s mother again before fleeing the scene.

Thank God, someone discovered her and took her to the hospital. However, the hospital staff, assuming she would die for sure, did not provide any treatment and left her neglected. When Victorina was notified and arrived at the hospital, she found her mother not on a bed, but lying on a wooden board on the floor. Her bones were so shattered that it was impossible to lay her on a bed. After her mother regained consciousness from the comatose state, Victorina gave her an emergency baptism and offered her up to Our Lady of Naju.

Although her mother opened her eyes, she was unable to breathe or move due to the numbness and excruciating pain, which was unbearable. All of her ribs were broken, causing them to press down her heart and puncture her lungs, making it impossible for her to breathe. Her lumbar vertebrae (L1-L5) were completely shattered, making surgery impossible.

The hospital stated, โ€œThe issue is not that she will be paralyzed for life. Modern medicine has its limits and there is nothing that can be done. She cannot even be anesthetized. She is in a terminal state with less than 24 hours to live. Even if she fortunately survives, she will be in a vegetative state.โ€ They told the family to observe her only. With no hope for her motherโ€™s survival, Victorina wept and earnestly prayed, asking that her mother receive the grace of repentance and forgiveness, so that she could hold the hand of Our Lady of Naju and enter Heaven.

Even with antibiotics and painkillers administered every 30 minutes, her motherโ€™s pain was so severe that nothing could be done to alleviate it. At that moment, a story of grace that a volunteer received suddenly came to Victorinaโ€™s mind. She thought to herself, โ€œThe elderly mother of Mr. Kim Raphael, who had even prepared for her funeral, was revived after receiving prayers from Julia and drinking the Blessed Motherโ€™s Miraculous Water!โ€ Inspired by this memory, Victorina quickly took the Miraculous Water and went to her mother.

Her mother, groaning in extreme pain and unable to eat anything while connected to an IV, had the Miraculous Water placed into her mouth. As it absorbed, the severe pain began to subside. Feeling relieved, her mother, who had been unable to sleep due to the intense pain, was finally able to rest. On the third day after the accident, though I was struggling with pain so severe that walking was nearly impossible, I accompanied Victorina to Nam-gwang Hospital (in Gwangju), where her mother was admitted.

Upon arriving, I found her mother in a dire stateโ€”struggling to breathe and gasping for air. She could not eat and lay motionless on the hospital bed, writhing in pain. Offering up my own suffering and inability to walk for the sake of Victorinaโ€™s mother, I earnestly prayed for her, blowing countless breaths over her from head to toe. After finishing the prayer, I returned to Naju.

As a result, even though I experienced the pain of a collapsed fifth vertebra, unable to use my back, I joyfully offered it up. I understood well that the Lord had given me this suffering out of love for the healing of souls. Thus, I joyfully offered it up with Semchigo as if I were loved, for Victorinaโ€™s mother and many other souls. After drinking the Miraculous Water and receiving my prayers, Victorinaโ€™s mother, despite being a Protestant, received abundant graces, wholeheartedly embraced Our Lady of Naju, forgave everyone and repented with tears.

From that moment, her condition improved rapidly. She no longer needed the oxygen mask, antibiotics, or painkillers and was transferred from the intensive care unit to a general ward. The woman who had been completely immobile sat up in bed and gradually began to stand and move. Two weeks after the accident, Victorina visited the hospital where her mother was staying. Expecting to find her still bedridden, she was astonished to see that her mother was not in her hospital room. When she asked the neighboring patient, the reply was, โ€œShe went outside.โ€ Overwhelmed with surprise, Victorina hurried to look for her mother.

Her mother had already fully recovered and was visiting patients in neighboring rooms. About a month after the accident, the hospital determined that she no longer needed to stay and discharged her. In fact, from two weeks after the accident, she had stopped receiving antibiotics or painkillers and had simply remained in the hospital room. The doctors, amazed by this inexplicable miracle, chose to keep her under observation rather than discharging her immediately.

Victorinaโ€™s mother, whose lumbar vertebrae (L1-L5) had been completely shattered to the point that surgery was impossible, was fully healed in less than two weeks. After being discharged, she was even able to carry her granddaughter on her back. Two months later, when her eldest daughter in Seoul fell ill, she prepared many kinds of dishes, packed them up and traveled all the way to Seoul. There, she stayed for over a month, managing the household and nursing her sick daughter, Victorinaโ€™s elder sister.

Later, Victorinaโ€™s mother showed a St. Benedict medal and said, โ€œThis must have been what saved me!โ€ Currently, the holy articles of Naju, such as rosaries and scapulars, all include the Miraculous Medal and St. Benedict Medal. At that time, holy articles were not yet on sale in Naju. Out of a desire to give something to others, I would always purchase many Miraculous Medals and St. Benedict Medals whenever I traveled abroad to share the Messages of Our Lady of Naju, to distribute them to Naju pilgrims.

After placing these medals and the one-decade rosaries in front of the weeping statue of Our Lady, I would pray over them with devotion and offer them up before distributing them to each pilgrim. On one occasion, I prayed over and gave my last remaining St. Benedict medal to Victorinaโ€™s mother. Despite being a Protestant and believing in superstitions, she treasured only St. Benedict Medal that I gave her deeply and always carried it with her.

It was no ordinary accidentโ€”it was a hit-and-run where the driver struck her twice with the firm intention to kill her, leaving her with broken ribs that crushed her heart and pierced her lungs, making it impossible to breathe and a completely shattered lumbar vertebrae. Such a miraculous recovery would have been absolutely impossible without the help of the Lord and Our Lady. Victorina, filled with gratitude, vowed to repay the great love bestowed upon her by the Lord and Our Lady of Naju, offering thanksgiving, praise and glory to Them.
