💌651. Sister P, Who Said That Even Though She Went to Confession Daily, It Was Not a Sincere Confession

Sister P said that she went to confession daily until she had a counseling with me. However, it was a confession where she neither recognized her own faults nor achieved true forgiveness and reconciliation. Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 18:18, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven!”

Offering up a Prayer of Life for sister P to make a sincere general confession and start anew, I asked the Lord to bring reconciliation and unity to her family. The next afternoon, she came to see me again, but unlike before, her expression was light and bright. Handing me a thick envelope, she said, “Following your words, I have honestly written down all the sins I have committed from my childhood up to now, with a heart determined to start anew today.

And I am on my way back from making a general confession. I tried to write down everything I have done wrong up until now, but I am afraid if I might have missed something,” she said. And she added, “I even wrote down every little thing, like when a man was pursuing me, I first agreed to meet him but deliberately stood him up.” She received the great grace of realizing that even things she had never considered wrong until now were indeed wrongdoing.

I said to her, “Sister, truly congratulations! I will also pray that you continue to unite with your family in the love of the Lord through the Prayer of Life.” Although she gave me the envelope, I knew that the Lord had already accepted sister P’s confession and repentant heart, so I felt there was no need to read it at all. However, by recalling sins that had not come to mind and making a general confession, sins can be forgiven but since the penance we must fulfill still remains, I prayed that sister P could move forward in a life of true repentance.

As I burned the thick envelope handed to me, I prayed to the Lord, who knows even the number of hairs on our heads, to completely burn away sister P’s wrongdoings and evil habits. I also prayed that the hearts of her family members would be set ablaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit, so they could build a happy and holy family and all live a renewed life of resurrection.

“Lord! Just as You entrusted Yourself entirely to God the Father, I now entrust to You Sister P’s family, who are covered in wounds. Please stoke the flickering embers of love with abundant kindling and set them ablaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, embrace this family in Your arms. May they all be reborn in Your love, with hearts wide open to boundless love, unlocking the bars they had shut tight, and enabling them to love one another deeply. 

O my Lord! Please hear the plea of Your daughter, who cries out in repentance and seeks forgiveness and grant her the grace to build a holy family upon a new foundation. We believe that the promise You made, that if we ask, knock, and seek, You will grant us and will surely be fulfilled.” As I prayed these words, the fragrance of incense filled the air and the voice of the Lord, filled with joy, echoed in my ears.

“My Little Soul, longing to give love! You led her to put into practice the words I cried out, “Whoever is thirsty should come to me and drink.” She followed your words as they are, accepting it not as ‘your fault,’ but as ‘my fault,’ and repented. How could I stay still? She has already been forgiven.”
