💌 779. Jesus Giving the Final Blessing Together With the Priest

I have always held a deep love and respect for priests, chosen and anointed by Jesus Himself. Through priests, the Gospel is proclaimed to us, and through the Mass, Jesus comes to each of us in the form of the Holy Eucharist. How precious and worthy of gratitude are these representatives of Jesus Christ!

One Sunday, after 10 a.m. Mass at our parish, the priest was giving the final blessing at the end of the liturgy. Whenever I receive the final blessing, I truly believe that Jesus Himself is blessing us through the hands of the priest. At that moment, I prayed the Prayer of Life. “Lord, this unworthy sinner belongs to You alone. If You would place Your hand upon my head and bless me today through the priest’s blessing, then I will once again be renewed and strive to fulfill my role as an instrument who proclaims You.”

That day as well, I offered the Prayer of Life with a sincere heart, just as I always did. At the very moment the priest raised his hand to begin the blessing with the words “In the name of the Father…,” I saw a radiant, dazzling light. I was so overwhelmed that it felt as if time itself had come to a halt. And there appeared Jesus Himself, wearing an ivory robe, His face full of mercy.

Standing behind the priest, Jesus mirrored his every movement, and together with him, He said, “May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

Though I had once seen Jesus doing the same during confession, blessing me just as the priest did, this was the first time I had witnessed it during the final blessing at Mass. As I marveled at what I saw in astonishment, Jesus spoke to me in a voice overflowing with love.

“My darling baby, what are you so surprised at? Together with the priest, I have always given the final blessing to you at every Mass.” As He spoke, He gently placed His hand on my head and blessed me once again. “My precious baby whom I love! As your soul is always filled with joy out of your fervent love for Me, I always bless you so that you may attain the virtue of humility through the seeds of My love and affection that I planted in your soul.”

Overwhelmed with gratitude, I prayed fervently to the Lord. “O my Lord! Burn away the bad dregs remaining in my heart with Your flame of love. With Your Precious Blood that You have shed from Your Five Wounds and pierced Head and Heart, please wash cleanly even the deepest and most hidden places of my soul which have become stained because of Adam’s sin, so that I may receive You in complete and holy faith throughout the rest of my life and thus become an instrument to love all the people in the world.”

“O My beloved Little Soul! I will be with you so that you may find and taste the sweetness of My love which cannot be replaced by anything in the world. Therefore, keep yourself empty completely.”

“Yes, Lord! Of course, I will. Wash me, a wretched one, with Your Precious Blood, wipe away, and open what has been clogged in my soul, so that I may be an instrument to manifest Your glory alone. I always entrust myself to You. Amen.”

After that, I saw Jesus blessing the people many times together with the priest behind him. So whenever I received a blessing, I gave thanks, knowing that it was Jesus Himself who was blessing me through the priest. With the sincerest heart and deepest reverence, I made the Sign of the Cross from my forehead to my navel, then across my shoulders, drawing a large cross as I received the blessing.
